Default a good start?

so my 98 2500 4x4 360 auto, pops thru the intake once in awhile and its seems to have a valve sticking. a light ticking noise is coming from the top end of the motor. I run moblie 1 oil. it also has a glass pack. the cat is on it.i also have a k&n cold air intake.it has 98,000 miles on it .
i would like to try a throttle body spacer, hedders losing the cat but i have two pipegoing intothe cat and one coming out. and ithas two O2 sensors. msd ignition. and again replace the wires and cap rotor and plug.
with the ticking i was plan on replacing the lifters. but if i do that can i replace the cam with a bigger one with out messing up the computer?

Save your money on the TB spacer. Read below.

Yeah ... dump the spacer idea ... less than useless.

Try a pint or so of Marvel Mystery Oil in the crankcase to quiet a sticking lifter ... one in the tank might help loosen up that valve as well. Backfiring through the intake is NOT something to just leave alone and hope it fixes itself.

There's a LOT you can do to get more power out of these motors without resorting to a cam swap. Start with 1.7 ratio (Viper) rockers. Gives you additional lift and duration than the stock 1.6 ratio rockers do. Simple swap. You can go expensive and get rollers or stay cheap and get stock Viper arms ... it's up to you.
