Hypertech
FINALY got my hypertech for my truck, after quite the run around.
Got it in, went straight to the 93 setting, thought I herd a spark knock so I stuck it at 87... is it normal not to feel much of a diference?
It might be a little faster, not a whole lot if it is. Will the computer adjust and get better with time?
One thing that notice is it DOES shift firmer, I dont know why maybe because more power or something, but every shift wfo is pretty firm and positive.

Wow, 100 miles.
Ahh I guess its worth it.
It has obviuosly advanced the timing because my engine is running hotter, almost on the 210 mark with normal driving, Ill stick in a 180 degree thermostat.
It is running a little better though, I gave it to it a few minutes ago and it sure took off, my *counting* got me 0-60 in about 8 seconds, but that could be plus or minus 2 sec.

did you originally have 87 octane in it when you programmed it for 93? if you program it for 93 and have 87 octane fuel, you'll get spark knock. my guess is that your foot was near the floor when you heard the spark knock =) .... OR, you could just go ahead and program it back to 93, put 93 fuel AND octane booster in it, and run it moderately but not hard for the PCM to adjust to get rid of the spark knock

Its all a trade off, too far advanced will give you more heat, too far retarded can also give you more heat, too far advanced is more detrimental than too far retarded.
Well anyways, its running alot better than before, even on the 87 octane setting.

So is it worth the money? I've thought of getting one but not sure I want to drop that kind of coin on one if it's only minimal increase in power.

Homeheaterman,
I am three months into Hyperteching my RAM. I picked up enough power to solve my shifting issue while towing so the purchase was justified on that premise alone. However, I did pickup 4MPG while towing, 3MPG in the city and about 2MPG on the highway. With the price of gas these days, I calculated my ROI at 3,000 miles. I solved my towing problem with a device that pays for itself within one oil change. Don't get caught up with the initial purchase - there is more to the equation. Come my second oil change I will be putting money back into my pocket or a fastman. I hope this helps.

I just got mine installed yesterday. I can tell a slight difference but maybe like SilerDodge said give it a couple hundred miles. I will be changing the setting to the 93 octane as soon as I get rid of the 87 in the tank. As far as the coin goes I bought mine for 150.00 shipped from someone here in the parts sale dept. so I got a great deal.I have seen them on ebay for about 200.00 used sometimes.
