Default Timing Chain Recomendation

I am prepairing for a long haul in May with trailer in tow. I have 94K on my 2001, 5.2, 1500. Can anyone recommend a heavy duty timing chain? Breaks, rotors, tires, tune up and fluids are all perfectly serviced. Other "good" PM options are welcome - I am thinking about the water pump. Thanks.

HD double roller timing chain will suffice, and while your there just slap on a good quality waterpump, as you will be tearing it off anyhow. Bypass hose and 180* thermostat is a must. Have fun. Oh and if you have problems getting crank seal on (lower timing chain cover), pack it with white grease, pops right on. That ones free..........lol

Short run of hose between intake manifold and waterpump, one of the most overlooked hoses when doing a waterpump swap, and can cause the most hassle.

Not rying to steal the thread but I do have a question. Is there a set time that you should replace the timing chain. I remember someone mentioning in another thread about replacing it before it breaks because it will take the whole motor with it. Is this true or not? I have about 127k on my 97 and to my knowledge the chain has never been replaced. I am not having any problems the truck runs great. Thanks for the help.

iv never heard the chain actually breaking.. the reason that people want/need to change the chain is b/c DC uses a nylon matererial on the chain to help keep chain clatter noise down.. this nylon material wears away very fast.. (within 50,000 miles) and can cause the chain to come loose and stretch over time... causing poor performance...
