Default Question about `01 Sport Off-Road Springs

I have an opportunity to get a set of front and rear springs from an 01 Off-Road with low mileage. However, I want to make sure the rear leaf springs are really from an off-road. I believe my stock 97 1500 has 4 leafs for the rear. Did they add an additional leaf in the rear or use a larger block under the spring?

When I searched I did not find anything specific to this. I did find a thread with the option code for the front springs which I will cross reference. Just want to make sure before buying.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that the rear uses the same leaf spring as the regular 4x4, but with a 2" larger block.

The Off-Road's front coils ars are thicker and taller than stock 4x4's. And there is an additional leaf and taller blocks on the rear. With these differences, there is also a LARGE difference in ride quality.

This info is based on a side by side comparision of my '01 Off-Road and my parent's '99 stock 4x4.

Can you elaborate on the large difference in ride quality? Better, worse, etc?

Thanks!

I imagine the ride quality was "firmer" in the Off-Road. It's a matter of personal taste as to whether this is "better" or "worse".

I know my rear leafs are junk, so it might be a welcomed change in ride quality. The front springs probably are not all that much better either!

The ride quality is a lotmore firmthan a stock 4x4. It even rides harder than my brother's F-350! I really don't mind it because I realize that it is a TRUCK and not a passenger car!

The nice thing is that the rear springs on the Off-Road handle loads a lot better than stock. I have a 6000lb travel trailer than I pull w/ a 500lb ATV in the box and the back of the truck only sags about 2 inches.
