Default Oil Pressure

Hey, I got a 1500 manual 5.2 recently, it's my first vehicle and I was told to come here for help/advice. I've done some basics but my oil pressure will randomly go down and oil pressure light will come on momentarily and then resume normal operation.. it happens randomly and sometimes (seems more often) if I take the truck out of gear after a high rpm. any thoughts help would be great!

Could be bad oil presure sending unit. What grade oil are you using sometimes the heavier vascosoties make the oil presure fluctuate, simple stuff if you are a quart low it can fluctuate. Worse case senario would be oil pump. Not a bad fix though.Check simple stufffirst, thentry the sending unit could be bad wire.

+1 on the sending unit (back by the distributer). Thinner oils sometimes have a tough time keeping pressures up.

WORST case scenario would be an engine with bearings worn so badly that the oil pump couldn't keep up with the demand ... but you would probably have other symptoms ... like rod knock. [:@]

Well, I thought it couldn't be just needing oil.. but sure enough that was it.. I had it in for an oil change not a month ago and so I figured they did the job.. but I guess not. They also seemed to have screwed up my speed sensor so now my cruise doesn't work[:@]

Thanks for the simple answer.. sorry for the dumb person
