goes through gas quick!!
so i have a 96 ram (see sig) and i have a few questions:
[hr]
[ul][*]when i gun it i can see the gas gauge go down ALOT...like ill have 1/2 a tank and when i gun it it goes down to 1/4 tank...any suggestions on what this might be?[*]im in central NC and we had ALOT of rain today...my door leaks alot on the top and i get all wet. when i drive down the road its real loud and windy.[*]will it hurt my engine if i straight pipe it? and will my check engine come on?[*]when i turn my wheel it seems to be rubbing(in the steering column) what could this be? it just seems rough[/ul]
thanks yall

i can't image it burns up a whole 1/4 tank each time you stomp it. is it just the gauge bouncing around between 1/4 and 1/2, or do you actually lose 1/4 tank. if you losing it you'll need to look for a leak somewhere.

check your weatherstriping. if damaged you can replace it. if your door is not shuting tight you might can adjust the striker post inward to tighten it up some.
will it hurt my engine if i straight pipe it? and will my check engine come on?
no it won't hurt it. i think you will have to keep the o2 sensors in. the pcm uses the first one to set the lean/rich mix. i don't think you can do w/o this one. the second measures the cat. you might can get by w/o it. check engine light might/might not come on. you can buy a 'sim' to fool it.

could be ujoints or the overlap joint in the column. check them for looseness

you cna do with out the one in the cat, i have a gutted cat and my CEL never turns on, and what does the rubbin sound like and are u sure its from the steering column, because I had a rubbing feeling/noise...it was a metal sound and it was my hub assembly, well bearing
I don't know how much weather stripping costs. But for the leaky door instead of replacing it all you can just bulk it up. I saw it on TRUCKS! on TV. If you take like a dollar bill and fold it in half long ways, then (with the window open of course) close the door on it and slide it along. Whenever you feel it's loose and slides easier than in other parts you can just take a piece of plastic adhesive, like HoldTu or something, and put like a two inch piece behind the weatherstripping. That should push the stripping out enough to keep leaks out.
hey mine does the gas tank thing too. does yours do it like this: when you just fill up (when its full) the gauge doesnt fluctuate while its full, but once it goes down to about 3/4s of a tank itll start moving around. The lower your gauge gets the more itll fluctuate? thats how mine is. plus ive noticed its rather innacurate. itll get down to right at 'empty' or even at times below 'empty' and yet when i fill it all the way up i only get about 22 gallons in it (26 gallon tank)
my 01 doesnt flucuation at all.. would it be because older dodges have a diffrent gauge? like a bobber or something floating around in the tank.. the only time mine moves is when i park on a hill.. it'll drop down very slowly
sorry about the delay yall...i had to work with padre today...

hey i know the gas gauge thing isnt really a big deal im just wonderin if yours does what i described, cuz when i've asked about that before on here no one knew what i was talkin about. does it sound the same?
can anyone tell i've got my first digital camera.
i've never adjusted the door on my ram, but have done a lot of older trucks. there should be a small amount of adjustment by loosening this up and sliding it in/out. BEFORE MAKING ANY adjustments, outline its current position with a marker or pencil or tape or something.
how are you going to handle your straight pipes and o2.
