DT Pro Fab has developed a replacement Trac Bar for ALL 1994-2002 Dodge Ram 4x4 models (1500, 2500, 3500) for stock height to 6"+ lifts. Our Trac Bar is also fully adjustable & rebuildable. It utilizes a high strength chromoly spherical rod end & durable urethane bushing set. The kit comes with one of two heavy duty drop brackets and all the hardware needed for installation.
If you are experiencing driving issues such as:
[ul][*]Noticeable play in stock bar[*]Road wander[*]Loose front end feel[*]"Clunking" noise when turning slowly[*]Out-of-center axle/tires to body[*]Poor steering response[*]Short service life of stock bar[*]Death wobbles[*]Poor drivability since installation of lift[*]Slight tire vibration [/ul]
The DT Trac Bar Kit will minimize or eliminate some or all of these problems.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I know my factory bar is bad or needs to be replaced?
[blockquote]
A: If your truck has any symptoms that have been mentioned above, it is a pretty safe bet that your bar is worn. Technically speaking, according to Chrysler TSB, if your factory bar ball joint end has 0.080 of an inch play, it is worn out. But my experience is that any play in the bar, either end, it should be replaced.[/blockquote]
Q: How do I check my bar for wear?
[blockquote]
A: This is a simple 2-person job. Have one person behind the wheel with parking brake set, turn key on to unlock the wheel and saw wheel back & forth, with engine off. The second person needs to crawl under the front & look primarily at the ball joint end of the factory Bar. If the bar has excessive wear, it will exhibit play in the ball joint.[/blockquote]
Q: What exactly does the Trac Bar do?
[blockquote]
A: First, it locates your front axle under your truck & limits its side-to-side motion. You must have this lateral control, so you won't crash. But, by its very nature, it also induces the very problems that it's supposed to eliminate. As the front axle jounces (moves vertically), it moves side to side, due to the arc the Trac Bar is following. If your bar is worn or your truck is lifted, it magnifies the problem. DT's Trac Bar does not change this basic principle, but it's slightly longer so that the arc swing is minimized. Our Trac Bar is also straight in design which is absolutely stronger than the bent style stock piece.[/blockquote]
Q: What is the Service Life of the DT Trac Bar?
[blockquote]
A: This will vary depending on you & your truck. 3/4 ton owners may get as few as 10,000 miles to as many as 40,000+ miles on a factory unit, while 1/2 ton owners may see as many as 125,000 miles. But with a lift system & over size tires on a 1/2 ton with 80,000 miles the factory bar may be out-of-spec in just 2 or 3 months from the time of the lift install. Personally, my 1/2 ton Cummins factory bar was done at about the 10,000 mile mark. Then I put 30,000 miles on a DT unit before replacing the heim & bushings. Normally you should expect about a similar amount of miles as your factory unit with the same driving habits & lift/tire combination. Remember, the repair kit is $45 not the $300 a stock Dodge unit would cost.[/blockquote]http://www.dtprofab.com/trac_bar_faq.htmhttp://www.partsamerica.com/ProductL...hfor=Track+Bar,
