We used to run ours on either side of the radiator through the shield. helps keep down some of the bugs and paper also if you run it down low you suck a lot of crap off the road plus water when you hit puddles. If you dont suck in water it rips your scoops off. I think if you mount it forward you get some extra boost. Nice set up.

Remember that in a search for 'cold air'
the air is cooler the farther up you go above the blacktop surface.

This is true both summer and winter.

Notice that Formula One cars have the engine intake duct
at the highest possible point on the car?

Notice that a lot of 18 wheel trucks go to extra effort to get the air intake
for their diesels as high as possible?
Sometimes these intakes are 9 to 10 feet from the pavement.
This air is not just cooler
it is also generally cleaner so that air filters last longer
and create less restriction in the second half of their lives.

Bigschwerm, try stretching some cheese cloth or even some old pantyhose over the intake tubes. This will allow free airflow but keep out bugs, larger dirt particles and such. Since your using dryer vent for the tubes, get a couple of dryer vent clamps to hold the covers on. You could try a rubber band but it may not be strong enough to hold at highway speeds or it would eventually dry out and rot off.

I took a 4in hose and ran it through the radiator shield behind the headlight into the hole in the fenderthat feeds air to my cai that mounts where the oem air hose fit. seem to work and I dont have a bunch of crap in the filter. It is not as efficent as your'sbut there is some pressure increase and the air is cooler andthe motordoesn't have to suck ashard. Don't have to clean the filter as often. Will try to find pic
