A paper filter will probably be fine
but if you want to buy a clean-able filter
the SB and AEM seem to be
a bit more honest and open in their airflow ratings.
A question in building your own dual inlet 'ram air' style system is:
"Do I connect the end of the ducts to the chamber beneath the windshield like most NASCAR intakes do, or do mount the end of the ducts at the sides of the radiator grille like the BMW M6 does?"
pic of BMW setup:

My guess is that the windshield gets ever so slightly less pressure but has the advantage that dirt, bugs, bit of plastic, etc, are deflected away here, but will go straight into the ducts if they are mounted facing forward.
If there is any way you can get ahold of a scanner to read your MAP and IAT sensors before and after your install of this mod, it would tell you if you are actually making improvements. AutoZone and other part stores will sometimes 'loan' you a scanner if you leave a refundable deposit.
Good luck on your project.

Update: had to buy a air cleaner spacer from local shop it hits the bolt on the brace that goes to the accesory bracket just enough that it wont let the housing seat all the way.....$6.00 for the 3/8" spacer
so here is the total cost broke down:
Schmidt Motor Works air cleaner setup: $59.99 (ebay)
8' of 4" aluminum Duct $6.49 (local hardware store)
Air Filter $5.45 (advance auto parts)
3/8" air cleaner spacer $6.00 (local speed shop)
Black zip Ties $1.75 (hardware store)
Total: $79.38
Not bad for a full funtional ram air setup......
i will get pics up later on when i get home....

Are the inlets round or oval? I know in thepicture they appear to be oval, but alot of the pics on ebay are distorted.

When a great big long weblink makes the window super wide
{like is happening here}
you can paste the long weblink into this service
http://tinyurl.com/
and make iit short so that the window
stays normal width.
