Default Grill Options

OK, so today I am driving down the road, and I see my bug deflector kinda flopping in the wind.
I pull over, and see that there is this very large crack going down the upper left hand corner of the grill.
I have some thoughts on what to do on this, and I have decided to try to paint it to match my truck.

I did do a search, but didn't find anything that covered doing something like this.

here is a pic of what I am thinking about doing

It wont be reflective like the one in the pic.

Call it a hicker billy fix, but I plan on taking the "Chrome" foil off the plastic frame to paint it. Has anyone ever taken the chrome off of the grill like that?

I have some very good white epoxy that I plan on using to patch the crack back up with, and then I will sand it back down to look right.

My questions: 1. What is the easiest way to pull the "Chrome" Foil off that grill?
2. What are the recommended paint prep instructions to prep the plastic?
3. I think I will use automotive paint to match the rest of the truck Will that type of paint hold?
4. What primer would work the best?

Let me know what you all think.
Thanks

EDIT: AIM if you see this, I did this on my laptop touchy pad too

I bet a fine grit sanding sponge will make short work of that "chrome".

lmao, I like chrome, but only when it is actually chrome. This Junk that I have on my grill now is like a real thick foil type crap. part of it should come off pretty quickly since it isnt adhered to the plastic anymore.

Fine grit all you can off, and use some MIL-H-83282 aka hydraulic fluid, if it is a metal grill. if it plastic be carefull and don't reomve to much material or is may not fit properly.

The reason it shines like that is because he simply selected the chromed area in Photoshop and bumped the levels. Read his original post.
