Plenum gasket repair vs' Murphy's law
Murphy's law: "If anything can go wrong, it will".
Got the parts together, replacement plate and gasket set. 1/3 of the gasket was pulled out of the plate, the 6 rear most plenum bolts were less then finger loose.
At this point you can just call me Murphy's b**ch......
She then offered a hint of things to come: EGR tube bolt (back one at Exhaust manifold) breaks off.
Removed Exhaust manifold as cannot access remaining bolt. Soak bolts for 3 days, No bolts break although all looked like they would.
Figured I'd do a tune-up while the engine was apart.
Cylinder 2, plug snaps off without much force. Hmm a few threads are missing.
Soak the plugs for 4 days, Use $180 MAC extractor kit, no good 400 ft lb impact cannot budge it, Bends pin on flip head breaker bar. Abandoned for now.
Cylinder 4, ceramic cracks, Abandoned attempt. Assuming The rest are Just as stuck.
Preping to pull the heads, Machine shop says 3 weeks to even look at the heads. Local parts shops they want about $300 a head.
Found source online, Ordered 2 rebuilds for $175ea. Have 3 angle valve jobs, 12mo unlimited mile warranty. Free return shipping on old cores.
Now waiting on the heads and shopping for head gaskets. Thinking I'll order Felpro MLS gaskets unless someone has a better recommendation.
I'll try and get pics of the right head tomorrow. Appears that it was running on 3 cylinders, cylinder 8's electrode was encased in a hardened whitish carbon.

I wonder if the plugs being stuck could be from those metal shields.
Advice...don't let Murphy, Laurel and Hardy or Yosemite Sam near your truck with tools again.

Run Seafoam through your truck (search for the procedure on here) The smoke coming out of your exhaust will usually show you where your leak is.
