Default squeaky belt fix?

Well after I went out playin in the mud a couple weeks ago, same time I bent my bumper up, I picked up a small squeak from the belt. It started doin it while we were out wheelin, but it was raining hard and I hit alot of waterholes so I just figured it got wet and that was causing it. We got to the lake we were heading for and after it sat there idling for a few mins, it seemed to go away. I haven't really driven it since then because I haven't been able to move for the last couple weeks, and I was out in it today and its still there. Not much, but enough that I know about it.

I can't seem to pinpoint it to any pulleys, the idler is only a couple months old, as well as the belt, and it isn't coming from the alternator or tensioner that I can tell. I want to spray somethin on the belt to see if that fixes it, but what?? WD40, silicone lube, bar of soap or what? I've heard good and bad about all them so I thought I'd ask you guys....

Check to see if any mud or debris has got packed into the pulley grooves and look closley at the belt, tensioner. If nothing is obvious try some belt dressing, got some at Canadian Tire once and it worked like a charm on my buddies New Holland loader.

well the thing is, those things I listed just happen to be some of the items I already have here. I just wanted to try somethin before I spent any money that I didn't need to... And it's 45 mins to the nearest parts store in Fredericton from here. AND I wouldn't survive the drive right now, I can barely move because of an issue with my tailbone, so unfortunately I can't sit in the damn thing to drive it ... Today is the first day in almost 2 weeks that I haven't spent most of the day on the couch....

it's not a constant squeal, just kinda squeak squeak squeak slowly but increasing speed when I give er some gas.... maybe it'll come out of it after I've driven it for a while. Might try the soap though tomorrow

Mine squeaked like hell going up a hill last week pulling the camper. Brand new Goodyear belt and greased idler.

my belt has always made some noise. the P.O. put belt dressing on it but it only worked for a few days and the noise came back. Now i get to clean the mess it made slinging off the belt and onto everything under the hood. I get a small squeek that seems to increase with drive time and moisture. The belt, tensioner, and idlers are all new and all the pumps and other pulleys move free, If u find a good fix please share, this squeek is one of my few complaints about a very nice overall truck
