OK I have to add my $0.02 into the mix.

The F1 AIR GAP KIT Hughes Engines manufactured by Edelbrock retails for lets call it $650.00 with shipping and needed fluids to do the job.
If they sell 10 at $600 they are making $6,000. Now with this "deal" if that is what you want to call it, at $525.00 x 10 they make $5,250??

Now I know Hughes has to cut Mr. Victor Edelbrock, Jr in if it was say a 25% cut that still gives Hughes $3,937.50.

Now I know there is the Tax man, all the people working for them, and materials but really?

I am all for a group buy but I say we go to Edelbrock and see what price they come down to. I have sent many emails to Edelbrock sales reps. I also found Victor's company email -- got to love the internet. I will let you know if they'll come down on the price.

Edelbrock contract manufactures those parts for Hughes and almost certainly does not have the right to sell them to anyone else. If they do have that right, Mr. Hughes got himself one fouled up contract!

Hughes does have sole rights to that intake.

I kinda figured that would be the case. I've never known of a contract manufacturing deal that was otherwise.

If someone wanted to be a cheapass, adding a few vacuum ports and welding injector bungs onto an Edelbrock Performer RPM would be the same thing. Paying labor to do it would probably cost more, but one who could do it all himself might save a few bucks.

Yeah, if you can machine and weld aluminum, you could do it cheaper. But if you have to pay someone to do it, the M1 4-bbl would probably be the cheaper route, especially since it comes with the 2-bbl adapter.

Cheaper, yeah, but at the cost of throwing the low end of the powerband away. Which kinda sucks if you're using your truck as a truck and need to get it rolling with a load in the bed or in tow.

I'm working on the linkage at the moment. Since both throttle bodies are too close to the bracket for the throttle, cruise, and TV cable, I'm going to have to mount the throttle bodies 180-degrees from stock. I've got to machine linkage rods and brackets to replace the stock throttle shaft brackets, etc. I want it to work properly and not look half-arsed so it's taking a bit of thought, trial-and-error, and time. For those who have never seen this before, I've taken an old school dual quad tunnel ram intake and machined the plenum down as well as welded in injector bungs and the vertical bolt bosses so it will fit my magnum stroker. The two throttle bodies are the ones I machine for sale and are bored out to 52mm each. I have added custom machined fuel rails, etc. I hope to have this running within the next month. I’m getting anxious. I want this back on the road.

That kind of depends upon how you set up the whole package. No matter what you do there are sacrifices or trade-offs. If you really want low end for heavy loads and towing a diesel works pretty well.
