Been using the Valvoline Nextgen 50% receylced oil, 5w30, it has been running pretty good, wish I could compare it to the mobil1 I was using. Trucks got the leak on the front bottom of engine, no sense in buy expensive oil to have it all leak out.

I feel good using it, does that count for somthing?

Recently put in some Valvoline Full Synthetic 5W20 w/ Purolator Oil Filter. I've used all the fancy brands -Redline, Royal Purple, Amsoil, etc. and haven't noticed a difference to justify spending so much more on oil. For the past 2 years, I was using Castrol Edge Full Synthetic in all my cars but with Valvoline Full Synthetic getting some good reviews on bobistheoil guy and other car forums, I decided to just stick with it since it is also cheaper than Castrol Edge and Mobil 1 Extended Performance Full Synthentic Oil.

Quesstion I just bought my 05 Dakota and the other day I changed the oil for the first time, everysince it taps now when its first started. I used valvoline 10/30 full synthetic and since then I have been informed I should use 5/30 or 5/40 and it wont do that is that true ? It never made a sound until I changed it darn it.

Thanks

These 4.7's are known for lifter tick. Nothing to worry about.

Also, other OHC motors have been shown to be very twitchy as to oil filter design to reduce lifter tick on startup.

Suggestion? Wix, Mopar, Motorcraft, Purolator.

Second one? Only use the highest end Fram, none of their other ones. Their WallyWorld units? Are GUARANTEED to make your motor clatter and rattle until the oil gets pumped back up into the heads ...
