If I had kids and we were going to the mall, you better believe that's one place I would make sure I was carrying. JMHO of course.
Not to completely hi-jack this thread, but I carry everywhere I go (unless I go to mom and paps house...dad has two shotguns, a 30.06, and a 1911 GCM .45 that is loaded with DPX HPs). It seems to me that the place one would want to carry the most, are the places that have "no firearms" signs....

I would never feel the need to carry in a church, but the mall? yes. also at most sporting events that I go to... the parking garage is the most likely place to get mugged. having a pistol in the truck just isnt close enough there...
Eric, I should have clarified. I carry everywhere I go, legally. In my mind, the old boyscout motto comes into play, always be prepared. Someone could easily take this way too far, though.

The way I see it, I have seen church shootings on the news, as with mall shootings, etc.
I have actually been in a parking lot at Home Depot when there was a shooting. I never saw the shooter, or the victum, but I estimate that they were at a maximum of 20 feet away from me.

regarding the op's question...after alot of searching I found the guys over at http://www.consolevault.com/ and it was the perfect solution. They make vehicle specific safes for a ton of different makes and models.

I wanted a place to store my full-size Sig 9mm that was lockable, concealed, and bolted directly to the truck (rather than like via a wire cable wrapped around something). Since I haven't done the center console swap yet, http://www.consolevault.com/dodge-ra...l#.VVsbjZMUXdQ was the one I got

I don't have any pictures on this comp, but man the thing is totally invisible and everyone whose seen me open it had no clue there was even any storage down there. Keeps my sidearm secure and secret but still close at hand
