Eric, when I cannot carry concealed (Colorado: Post Office, and Federal building, schools) , this is what I lock my gun in.

It is not displayed in the picture, but mine has a cable that attaches around the passenger seat mounting bracket. This way, unless you have some serious cable cutters, you can't just remove the box with the contents inside.

I wish I had the actual center console in my truck .... I just have the 40/20/40 seats with the fold up center console and I can barley fit a couple CD cases and my superchips programmer in there. I also wish we had concealed carry in WI. lol. We only have open carry, and all the sensative people frown upon it and call the cops even if you follow regulations.

Check WWW.CENTER-OF-MASS.COM I know they used to have a large assortment of all sizes for small single to large multiple in vehicle, lockable gun safes...

I keep mine in the center console with no lock, but I don't have chilluns'. I also usually have a shotgun and either a .22 or a mini-14 "hidden in plain site".

It's amazing how hidden this rack keeps 'em. With it above the window line, you literally have to press your face against the rear window and look straight up at the roof to see them...

Big Sky Rack, fully adjustable for width. I got mine from my local gun shop for $79. I believe Cabelas has 'em for about the same price. Couple of screws go through the double steel wall that's at the bottom of the roof line just above the windows. Maybe a 15 minute install. It actually takes just as long to loosen the set screws and move the arms when you change guns.

Quick access too. One quick tug on the velcro strap in the middle holder and the rifle or shotgun will slide right down into your hand, I don't even need to turn around to look at it...

Im not sure if that would be legal here in WI though. Im pretty sure a gun must be in a case while in a moving vehical, with the ammunition unloaded and it cant be in the same case as the gun. Very cool idea though.

When I'm in Florida I have to carry concealed, but can be locked and loaded in the vehicle or on my person.

In the great state of Georgia I can open carry and often do. Hell, I've walked right into my bank and stood on line with my .44 Magnum on my hip, fully exposed and nobody even batted an eye. I love my town!!!
