got a single cd with the aux input off ebay for $20. came out of 06. Satellite and u-connect still function and now I have an aux input for my zune! Only thing I lost is the ability to load 6 CD's at a time, which I never did anyway.

Glad you got it worked out, Kent. That aux input is a nice feature.

I'm surprised to see you guys go that route.

I've used an aux mp3 player for years, but I prefer the 6 cd system, having the controls at my fingertips and digital readout on the dash is way better. I do have to switch them out every 3 months for new material, but no biggie. I've also found that the sound quality is a little better off a disc.

true that jaded, but i just wanted the aux input, and I don't drive enough time at once to actually listen to 6 CD's in one setting, so one is good for me I just wanted the option of plugging my zune if i ever wanted to.

this is one issue that has been bugging me about my dakota as well. you said you bought a used one off ebay for 20$?? that is crazy cheap. i went to the stereo shop today and they said it will be 130$ for a aftermarket headunit/mounting plate/wiring harness/antenna connecter with no charge for labor. i plan on squeezing a sub somewhere in the back soon so i may have to go the aftermarket radio route regardless, but in the meantime while i save up for that the 20$ upgrade will be awesome..

I got mine off ebay. it was another $15 to ship it, so $35 invested.

not sure about the part number, i just searched for a dodge dakota factory radio on bay. any one from an 05-07 will work, just check the connectors on the back of yours and make sure they match up with then new one. Here's one like I got, I just waited until someone had one for cheap.
