Really?
I've been thinking about getting a sticker that says "Yeah, it's not a Hemi" and see how many people catch it.
This relates as well...
Yesterday I quickly stopped into work, to grab a tool of mine, and when I arrived there happened to be a guy there with an old Cadillac, I'd says "30s, very nice car. Beside that was a '67 or '68 Camaro, very nice car. Git talking with the owner, he tells me a bit about the car, mentioning that it's EFI'd, using GM TPI. I say "Sweet" and ask him for more details, like is it MAF or Speed Density set-up, to which he replies that it's MAF, from an '87 F-body, and then adds "The last year for MAF."
I mention that I tune the OEM GM EFI, frequently, and that I am using GM EFI on my Datsun, I then kindly correct him that MAF was used until 1989 and that in 1990 SD started. He's adament that he' correct, I just let it go.
He then says how MAF is more easily tunable, "you know because of cam swaps."
I just politely remove myself at this point, and go on with my day.
Yes, they are out there.

unfortunately there are far too many out there who do not realize the importance of educating themselves, relying on hearsay or just plain lying....thats why whem i got mine, the first thing I did was go find a dakota forum....glad i found this one, I don't get beat up to bad in this one for not knowing something, or being incorrect about something....most of the time.....lol
Back in VA Opie, Jay and I were going to a SOVA meet when we noticed an 06 Dakota with Hemi badges. Thinking he had executed a Hemi swap we stopped and talked to him. He said "Oh yeah, Its got a Hemi straight from the factory. " I asked if I could see it, he started stumbling and said no he had a special hood latch and it was hard to open. I crawled underneath the bumper with him screaming "what are you doing?"
Unfortunately it was a stock 4.7L and I told him he should de-badge it. He was pissed, lol. They are out there.

Going back to what Keaton said, I find this forum has a better crowd for the most part then other dakota forums.
I openly admitted knowing $hit about these trucks that is why I joined when I bought the truck.
All I can say is, thanks to this forum, my truck is a BEAST compared to what it was the day I bought it and it's only going to get better. I got a long way to go to catch up to Blown or Trucky, but I will get there one day...lol
