Out of Hiding: Pics of my DAK
I know, they said you have to experiment with the chemicals.
I would probably do it after a 6-pack, so atleast if I messed it up I wouldnt be pissed about the money I just threw down the drain.
And no pissing on the fire; its cold here!

So instead of doing all that extra work, if your buying one new, the paint will be clean and free of contaminants. The grill section on mine seemed to hold up very well. It was just the outside frame that suffered paint loss. So spray the thing down with some MEK or Acetone, etc etc, and respray the grill the color you want. Then do a quick scuff around the frame and throw down your body match color.
Damn.. hate to **** on your campfire again, but its plastic.. plastic does not react well to chemical strippers as it eats through the plastic too.
I know from workin on motorcycles that for doing plastics work, your really limited because of the delicate and reactive nature of plastics.

Here is where I found it....

Hey Brian, long time! Why did you remove the nightshade from your taillights??
, At a block party my gf was going back to our house to get some more alcohol and backed into a mailbox cracking one of my tail lights. She bought me a new set of oem and i night shaded them but it was to cold outside so they had runs in them and I was pissed lol....so i decided to redo them....that stuff is hard to remove (3 layers of nightshade and 4 layers of clear coat) So i googled around and found the citristrip method and it worked like a charm, and resprayed them to my liking inside where it was warm. Still want some of those mopar tuner tail lights though..... I just issued the caution because i do not know the quality of plastic used on the grills it could distress them, but it worked perfect on the tail lights.
good to know so when I screw mine up, I can start over...lol
oh...and , see what happens when we let our wives, gf's, daughters (my daughter took out a mailbox), etc drive our trucks????

Yeah it will take the nightshade and clear coat off the oem tail lights no problem with no damage, if you have a set of cheapie ones off of ebay it may melt or crack them. Tell me about not letting the girlfriend/wife/daughter not driving the truck! Ugh I was so mad at her but she did pony up the cash for the new ones and the night shade and clear i needed so all is good. I am just glad she backed it up into the tail light, if it would of been in the middle of the tail gate or something she would of been in deep you know what.
You can't buy one...Its a one-off.
The trim ring is from a factory badge, the backing is plexi that was cut to fit, and the Decpticon logo... well I'll show ya where to get one...
