Almost had a hell of a deal for one of you Dak guys.
I had my truck into the dealer last year with a seized caliper, and was checking out the used '08 on the lot. Three hours of negotiations between the sales rep, who was hungover, and the sales manager, and a credit card deposit before I'm told the vehicle has been a daily rental and had been in an accident! The funny thing was, they had tacked the repair for my current truck on the end of the bill for the new one! Then they denied it, saying it was some bullshine charge. They had put a stop work order on my truck in expectation of taking it in trade, which, when things fell through, my truck wasn't repaired, and I had to rent a vehicle to get to work the next day. They didn't even want to spring for that. Not only am I never returning to that dealer, but reported them to the governing body. Man, you gotta keep your head up with these guys, regardless of what product they sell. One of the best things you can arm yourself with is the blue book value, not only on your trade in, but the vehicle your are considering.
I will never trade any vehicle into a dealership. I just bought this 2011 ford fiesta saturday

and just out of curiosity I asked them what they would give me for my 1997 eclispe spyder gs-t and it was like half of what they were going for on autotrader.... they give you nothing for your trade ins....then sell them for outrageous prices to desperate people that cannot afford new cars.

CLARIFICATION: The other day I did not see his new "Exporer" as he was already there sitting in a golf cart waiting on me to get there. I played today (not with him) but I was in the parking lot when he pulled in. What he keeps calling an Explorer is really a friggin' ESCAPE!!!
He traded in his brand spanking new Dakota, got all upside down on the financing in so doing it - for a damn little SUV on a compact car frame! He didn't even get the 3.0 V6, but instead the 2.5L I4! I have lost what little respect I had for the guy...
