Nice, I got a Thompson/Center Venture in .308 but haven't got a scope yet. No clue what to buy for a 3x9x40.

Nice collection. Hopefully it takes awhile to zero in because that looks fun to shoot

Once I looked through a Redfield at Cabela's, after reading a lot of positive reviews and no negative ones, I bought it.

When I needed another scope, I didn't even shop around.

Personally I think the accru-range is easily worth the $10.

Mine isn't mounted on a .308 though, so check that it can take the kick, but I would be surprised if it can't. UPDATE: I was reading some of the instructions and they included MOA info (for the accu-range) all the way up to the .338 stuff.

I've always been of the opinion that Leupold is still about the best scope out there. I have two of them, one on my Ruger M77 30-.06 & one on my Model 1 - .270. Had them for years and they have taken a beating and still perform flawlessly.

But they ain't cheap! Mine were in the $300 range in the mid '80s and it's not uncommon to see just middle of the road Leupolds for over $500 now.

Lot of guys in my hunting club have had problems with Bushnells and Tascos lately. They are now all made in China and the quality has gone to hell. Seen one Bushnell on a AR15 go completely blurry after the initial shot, had to be returned.

For the money, the Barska scopes aren't bad. I have a 4x on my Mini 30 hog gun, and one on one of my Mini 14 Ranch models, I wanna say they cost me about $50 each. I have a bit higher end Barska 6-24x scope on my Savage .17 and it's held up well. You can clearly see a single grain of sand at 100' on 24x and it comes with a sun shleld and was under $100.

I'll be in the market soon, I only need something that'll hold zero and is clear. I will only use it for Deer/Rifle season, and some target shooting at the range.

"Redfield is owned by Leupold & Stevens" & Made in Oregon.

Redfield went out of business years ago and Leupold bought the license and the even the same building they were made in originally, if I am remembering right, and started making them again last year. Marketing them to the same market they were built for; American Hunters. They run from $150 to $220.

I personally think they are the best mix of quality and price after my research last year. But I'm no expert, just sharing what I've found to work well for me. I'm sure you'd want something more spendy if you were training to be a Marine Sniper or cheaper for a paintball gun.

I have a savage model 110 with a simmons 6.5-20x40, and its a pretty good scope, but i also have a pair of Nikon 10-22x50 (i aint too sure what power they are, but they are adjustable, aint used them in a while (need to change that)) binoculars that are friggen crystal clear, and great in dawn and dusk situations. I think my next scope will be either a nikon or a Shephard scope. The shephard scopes are tailored to your specific gun. http://www.shepherdscopes.com/dual.asp.

If i had/get the money, and if i ever get my Winchester M70, 300 win mag fixed up, or build a rifle, i'd love to put one of the previous or one of these following scopes on it. Horus Vision, Super Sniper : http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-10x42-Tactic...cope-P500.aspx, or US Optics. The first and last are VERY, VERY spendy, but the middle one is a very good scope. Its made by tasco, BUT, its a great scope, or atleast the reviews 2 to 3 years ago were great.

This is a great place to buy scopes, and other optic supplies from
