Default Intake options

Just want to see which would be your preference if you were starting from scratch, I'm not asking what you currently have.

I've tried it each way above and pretty much have my mind set on which setup I'll keep running.
Any Dakota, Ram, or Durango owners feel free to vote.

I would go with the full kit (C). I've been through two already, had some trouble with the filter staying on the K&N (though it turns out that was a defective filter, they replaced it but I felt safer getting something else). I'm very happy with the AEM brute force I have now, if I did it again I'd get that from the start.

I have option A now. I had it on my last truck also.(shoulda ripped the filter out when i crashed it) Its a great filter. It seems to have done some good for the motor over the paper filters.

Id love to remove the resonator and get a little more noise from under the hood, but i dont think that it is necessary to have the full CAI unless you are puting in a turbo or super charger.

I have B. It's just what I went with and is a fairly cheap route compared to full kits (at retail price that is). Can't really make any comparisons but I recommend it!

Here's why I brought this up, I started out with the K&N drop in. No noise increase at all. Picked up the Airaid CAI and installed the whole kit. Then took a long drive to pick up my winter wheels and thought the noise under hood was way too loud. Then I put in the stock intake tube with the Airaid filter and it got a lot quieter. Ran it like that for a while and was happy with it. Then I decided to try the full CAI again, and kept it on for a while. I tried to just accept the noise and one day coming up a hill I just made up my mind to change it up again due to the damn noise. I put in the K&N drop in and Airaid MIT and found it nice and much quieter than the full CAI.

Been running it like that and I think I'll keep it like that for now. So either I'll keep it like this (which I think looks better) or go back to the Airaid filter (Airaid Jr.) with stock intake tube, which both pretty much sound similar. I can't really say that I noticed a performance difference between either setup.

Here is the results of a dyno test from a 2008 Silverado 5.3L Flex Fuel "0" engine, using various intake systems. The Airaid JR seems to perform towards the top of the pack.

I was going to buy a K&N CAI system, because someone had one available on Kijiji for a good price, but someone else snatched that up and I will likely fab my own now. I'll use a K&N filter, fire-resistant PVC piping, and, maybe, fabing an air-box to keep only cool air coming in.

I'm also toying with the idea of making my hood scoop functional, it came with the truck, and I'm not really interested in glue-on bits that should be functional but aren't.
