Default chrome capped lug nuts

so the stock lugs on my 05 are the chrome capped lugs...sure they look nice but you take an air wrench to them and the caps spin off leaving a rusted lug behind...i want to get completely different lugs maybe a stainless steel but im not sure how to size them up to match...if i go to autozone or advance auto will they be able to just match them or will they just try to sell me a stock chrome capped lug?

I was just surfing for them today!

These work! Lug Nuts, Conical Seat, 9/16 in. x 18 RH, Closed End, Chrome Plated Steel.

I think I will go with stainless, when I save up $100!

I went with Gorilla chrome lug nuts (91198HT).

Nice and solid, not like the OEM lugs.

I went with Gorilla Lugs in black. I had to get one lug nut from an auto parts store in an emergency. They were the capped ones and were insanely overpriced. ~$7 each after tax...

The chrome capped nuts are probably the worst you can get, especially if you use a impact tool to remove & install, if the caps don't rip off, they distort and then you have a real problem getting a socket on them. If you use an impact tool, you'll end up marking the solid nuts as well and the chrome plated ones will rust where you knock the chrome off with the gun. I use an impact to remove the nuts and to snug the nuts on installation, then I use a torque wrench to hand tighten each nut to the proper torque - you can't do this with an impact gun. I think the normal sized wheel has 100 ft.lb. per nut and the larger wheels are greater - I use 120 on the Yokohamas and 135 on the Nittos (slightly greater to go with the custom rims and centering ring configuration).

I thought lug nut torque specs refered to the amount of torque needed for the studs, too high is as bad as too low one snaps the stud the other the wheel works the lug loose..
