Default 09 Dakota - gas mileage

Got a 2009 with the 4.7l.

Man is this thing hard on gas....

My 97 f150 with the 4.6l is better on gas than the dodge.

Anyone else have this issue or is it just the nature of the beast?

BTW 36,000 kms on her.

all depends on the driving habits, seeing the winter blend is out the mileage should go down a few per gallon, my 05 4.7 gets an average of 20/22 mpg on the highway with the cruise set at 65, and 17 or so around town

Search for "gas mileage". This subject has been beat to death. I have seen guys reporting anywhere from 11 to 25 MPG. A lot of factors influence mileage. Another reason why you dont see the 4.7 anymore. They were not built for mileage.

The 4.7 was the replacement for the 5.2. Made a little more power, but no real improvement in economy.

The 2008+ 4.7L V8s were a bit better on mileage than the pre-2008s, or so the general rule of thumb goes. More power too.

About the same here, but got a 4x4. I will see 14-15 in town during the winter if I don't use 4x4, 15-16 in town during the summer. Part of the reason for less during the winter is winter blend gas and I throw about 300 lbs of sandbags in the back.

On the highway, driving 75 or 80, get about 18. Driving 55 or 60, I can get over 20. I got 22.7 MPG driving back from a wedding in Nebraska, where state highways and even parts of the interstate range from 55-60 MPH typically.

All depends on how you drive, where you drive, and what tires you use.
