People comparing your truck too others..
anyone else get slightly annoyed when other people (some who don't even own a truck) assume that since you have a midsized truck it's not capable of doing things other trucks can. Sure payload capacities are different along with towing, but, heck we can tow almost as much as a ford raptor. However as far as offroad capabilities, I'm sure we are just as capable as many other factory trucks. thougts? comments?
I will move you to the general discussion section, since this isn't a technical question.
What annoys me the most, especially when its the owner himself, is when a 2005-2007 Dakota is compared with a brand new 2012-2013 truck of any kind. It annoyed me in the 2nd gen Ram area when I owned one of those too, people complaining "Man, this 2001 Ram can't compete with the 2011 GMC/Chevrolet/Ford/blah blah, what a pile of junk."
You cannot compare three year old trucks straight up to a current model year vehicle, let alone trucks that are five to ten (or more) years old.

tell me about it, im on the base here in Charleston SC and everywhere you go you see guys with diesels and 2500 3500 dodge or gm or F series trucks, always talk **** about the "little Dak". but its really funny when some of these boys after talking **** pull up to you at a light and decide to try to race ya and (as yesterdays example proved) a 24V Cummins 3500 sitting on his 35"s got blown outa the water between redlights by a motor that is much smaller with 3.55s compared to his monster cummins and 4.11s. they can talk their **** but we still have our perks that make it fun to see their face when you shut them up.
I don't let em bother me. I work with a couple guys who have some fast trucks that bag on mine. I just think how mine is paid for, cost me half what they paid, and even though it's slower it does what I need.
the daks do have their strong points, I did like how mine was more maneuverable than a full size, especially when on an old logging road or even a tight parking spot...
I agree, folks shouldn't run one down by comparing old to new, or full to mid size even, since each fills a niche.
IMO , pick which ever fills your needs / purpose the best & enjoy it without running down some one elses ride.

WTF? yesterday I had my STOCK truck loaded down with almost 1600 pounds of quickcreet. (not really advisable) I didnt have any suspension, but it got the pallet from the lumber yard to my buddies house just fine. Aside from the *** end hangin like a low rider, the motor and transmission didn't notice a darn thing. I didnt drive over 25 mph, but it could have went down the highway, if my suspension could have handled it.
I had an 06 with a v6 that pulled some farm equipment just fine. These dakotas are not any kind of a joke even stock. (only with mpg's is it a joke (whole other story for another time)).
