Default Smooth tail lights for my 3rd gen- NO MORE GOGGLES!

I always hated the stock taillights on these trucks, so I took matters into my own hands. Ended up being a huge project, and I still have some finish work to do, but so far I'm happy with the results...

Trial and error basically. Heavy on the error part, lol.

Truth is, I made it harder than it had to be. I started with a set of stock taillights from the junkyard and tried a whole slew of different stuff until I settled on the way you see them now. By the time it was all said and done, the only original part of the stock lights were 3/4 of the buckets and the side brackets that mate to the bed. The rest was shaping, cutting, carving, joining, dremeling, etc. of a bunch of different materials.

The parts list includes...
Junkyard taillights
Aftermarket round lenses
Neoprene sheeting
Rage Gold body filler
Clear acrylic sheeting
3M chrome molding
Reflective metal tape
Some sheet metal screws
Ram smoked tail light covers (trimmed and shaped)

....and a lot of patience

That's some nice work there, who would have thought to fab up your own custom tail lights.

Shipping to...just kidding.

Not bad at all. Moving you to the general discussion section, since that is where the "see what I did" threads go.

Funny you say that - I actually was considering making a mold of these so that I could reproduce them if there was enough of a call for it.
