Default Urgent Takata Airbag Recall

We’re certain you’ve heard of the Takata Airbag Safety Recall and believe some of you are hesitant to get it completed. It is urgent that you take the necessary steps to repair your affected vehicle to ensure the safety of you and your passengers. In a minor crash, the airbag(s) on your vehicle may explode due to excessive internal pressure. If this happens, a rupture could result in shrapnel and sharp metal fragments striking vehicle passengers, which may lead to serious injury or death. FCA will repair the vehicle FREE of charge (parts and labor). If you haven’t completed this airbag recall, please share with us why. We care about your safety, and want to understand how we can help to get this addressed. To check if your vehicle is a part of this recall or if you need assistance scheduling an appointment, visit recalls.mopar.com or call us at 1-833-585-0146. We look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Yes. I'm getting sick and tired of scheduling an appointment at my local dealer to only get there and back handled like a walk in with no appointment.

Or to be told they don't have the parts when I set the appointment to make sure the parts were there.

I'll bring it in if you can make sure the parts are there and the so the fix when I get there.

I've been getting every excuse in the book why the dealer can't do this repair. One dealer told me they don't do warranty or recall work, I have been quoted $685 by another dealer for this supposedly "free" recall repair. The parts are not in stock, They will need my truck for a week. This is my only vehicle and I have to use it to go to work, I can't be without it for a week or two while they putter around with my truck. The whole range of excuses. It's quite obvious that nobody around here wants to do this repair so I wish they would stop calling me and sending me letters in the mail.

You must have $hitty dealers around you, but they must do the recall repair. This is a safety issue, and you need to speak to upper management people at the dealer, or better yet, a regional FCA Representative. Send a PM to DodgeCares, (Post above yours), they will assist you in getting your truck repaired.

This repair is done in one day, It was only a couple of hours, at least for one Airbag Inflator. I had them done separately at two different dealers, I only went to a second dealer for the second repair because I can't stand the first dealer that I went to. The 2nd Dodge dealer was MUCH better than the 1st dealer.

As noted above, Dodge will certainly get you in touch with a dealer to repair it. The fed (NHTSA) is dinging them for having low completion rates so they are very motivated to get each one of those recalls done right.
The FCA zone reps will also be VERY interested in which dealer told you they don't do warranty repairs. Performing warranty repairs is not optional. It is part of their franchise agreement with FCA. This sets them up for getting their franchise pulled. As in Out Of Business.

Hi TT120,
As your other forum members have suggested, we would be more that happy to assist further with this. We understand that visiting the dealer can become an inconvenience and would like to make sure we can assist you with getting this repair completed. Please send us a private message with your VIN and more details of your experiences. From there, we can get this escalated onto the proper teams who will work with your dealer. We hope to hear from you soon!

I just made an appointment for next Tuesday for the airbags. I asked the lady to make sure they had the parts in stock and she said they did. I guess I will try this again and see what happens. I don't have ANY confidence in this place, or any dealer for that matter, but we'll see.

Got the airbags and the heated seats done. It took a week but they did give me a rental vehicle from the on-site rental agency. The first car they tried to give me had the rear brakes grinding so badly I could hear and feel it even with the radio on. I didn't even make it off the lot before I turned it around and brought it back. The second car they gave me was filthy and only had a quarter tank of gas. I told the guy about it and he appeared to write that down but as it turns out, he did not. They tried to ding me for $76 for gas when I brought it back. I had to refuse the charge on my card and get a new card issued.

The recall work took 5 days and now the airbag light on my dash is coming on for a day or so then goes off for an hour and then back on. I called the dealer and he wants me to bring it back in. Another day off work with no pay. They were very nice though.

They're wondering why there is such a low response from the public on this recall.....This is why.
