Default 2007 Dakota 3.7L EGR location issue

I bought this truck a few months ago from the dealer as is and when I saw the engine warning light was on I figured that was fixable. I get it home and put the scanner on it to find the error codes and it shows the typical error codes for the EGR valve. I go to take the EGR valve out to fix or replace it and it's not there. There's a cable for it where its supposed to be but there isn't even a place to mount the thing. It looks like there is a flat area where the mounting holes and such should be but nothing is there. I seen the tube that normally runs down to the EGR has been cut off and sealed at the intake. I'm taking it for granted now that this engine has been replaced but I don't know with what. All the other parts are as they should be for the engine that goes in this truck as far as I can tell. I don't know where the engine ID number is located so I can even get a start from there. Can anyone help? Thanks
