I don't use or need this truck any more. I do like it but hate paying insurance on it just to drive in a few times a year. 2WD w/ V8 and a 4.56 rear gear for towing. 164k miles. No check engine lights and everything works fine. I'm original owner with no accidents. Think $7500 is a fair price?

You might want to recheck the rear end ratio. I've never seen a Dakota with shorter gears than 3.92. 4.11 is towing for a heavy truck. You think you might have 3.55 gears?

I double checked the box. 4.56 is what I had installed after I bought it.
For anyone curious about why I put a 4.56 gear in a 2WD truck..... Look at the gear ratios on the 545RFE transmission. They suck. They suck bad. First gear is a 3:1. Most 5-6 speed transmissions are using 4:1 or higher. Second gear is an even worse 1.67:1 where other vendors are using 2.30:1 to 2.80:1 ratios. With the skip shift algorithm just bypassing 2nd-prime on upshifts entirely it then hops to "third" gear which has a 1:1 ratio. Chrysler came out with this transmission back in the 90's and first used it in Jeep Cherokees. They had an opportunity to make this a great unit but saddled it with these stupid gear ratios and skip-shift function.
The 4.56 made drivability WAY better. It put upshift points closer to something like a GM 6L80. City fuel economy improved but highway dropped a little. Overall it is about the same. The Ram wheels hurt fuel economy more than the gear but still averaage about 17mpg overall. With the tune it doesn't hunt for gears climbing a grade. It just made it a nice driving truck.
