Default Dropping into 4WD by itself

Hey Guys, I have been experiencing an issue with my 2005 3.7 Dakota. The SVC 4WD warning light intermittently flashes up on the dash. It will at times stay lit. The truck will also got into 4WD without touching the control switch. It's odd behaviour as the rear diff will also be locking by itself. The other day it decided to select 4WD low range and was limited to a slow drive home. This is so intermittent and is showing no faults on the scanner. Other times she is driving normally in 2WD.
I bought a new 4WD switch from RockAuto but the problem persists. I can drive for a week or 2 without this issue, other times its dropping in to 4WD.
I would appreciate any help here as I don't want to screw up the transmission or transfer case. She done 207000 miles.
Regards Pete

Maybe the t-case control module? Or a wiring issue between the switch and the module. If you own the scanner, and it will tell you..... checking to see what the module *thinks* you are requesting via the switch might be enlightening.

HeyYou, Many thanks for your reply. The scanner belongs to my neighbor so shan't have any problem getting him to rescan the truck.. Hopefully the Transfer Case module is at fault, that'll be much easier than finding a wiring fault.........Or maybe not.

We scanned the truck, this has revealed no faults on any of the individual tests.
There is another issue, which I believe is related, when I unlock or lock the truck using the fob, there is a clicking sound. This is intermittent and only noticed it 4 or 5 times over the past 3 months. This is the same sound it makes going in and out of 4wd.
I have looked on Rockauto site for the Transfer case module. Is this part an internal fixture or can it be removed and fitted or will the transmission have to come out.
Many thanks

T-case is controlled by the Front Control Module, which supposedly connects to the underhood fuse block. A mopar parts site *should* show where it is located.

I don't think the FCM should even be powered when the ignition is off, but, not 100% on that.....

It seems to be behaving its self this week, however today when I got back the the truck, unlocked it with the remote and a second or 2 later, heard the distinct sound of the selection noise of connecting 4wd. Though it wasn't in 4wd so drive home a few miles without incident.
It is getting on the ol' girl and after a 650 miles she chewed through a quart of engine oil.

Further to this odd behaviour I am facing I had the truck scanned again with the same type of scanner, but different operator and we got up a fault code. C1404 (T-Case shift Motor) just as HeyYou has said.
It's still going in and out or 4wd so on the advice from the forum to wait until it was back in 2wd, select 4wd to engage and back into 2wd to disengage then remove fuse #42.
Since doing this I have had no issues with it randomly selecting 4wd.
However it will still give a chime and all of a sudden the SVC 4WD light comes on. This is now more random than not.
I am positive that what I have learned from this forum that it is the electric switch motor for the T-Case and as the T-Case motor is still connected to the power cable it is still trying to engage but the T-Case isn't excepting it as the fuse is removed?
Would this be a logical explanation of the 4wd light still coming up?

Thanks Guys

Didn't pulling the fuse cut power to the motor? It may be that the TCCM is attempting to shift, but, it isn't happening, so it whines.
