As far as I'm aware resistors are only needed for LED's used as blinkers. The low power draw of the LED causes the computer to think the bulb is burnt out and flash it very rapidly, the resistors trick the computer into operating it normally.

so what your saying is, i would not need resistors for the back up lights....you only need them for blinkers?

Yup, I'm not an expert on it but I can't see any reason you'd need the resistors for back ups. Even the blinkers will still work without resistors, they'll just blink really fast.

it's the kind of LED they put in the bulbs. The 3W LEDs are the same ones used in the MAGLight 3W LED flash lights, and those put off more light than the old bulb style ones. You can get different brightness LEDs, but the new LEDs that are 3w are insanely bright. You don't need load resistors for the backup lights like the rest said.

hahahahaha 55w LED...wow....do u wanna melt the car behind you??
OK I don't know of any place that sells the 3157 bulb in pairs...but i'm looking ok. alsoooooo I have a few 3157 LED bulbs laying around...and I can buy the 3w LED bulbs alone ready to solder onto something...IF I can get a pair working with the 3W LED I'll sell a pair of them for yall at about the same price as the single bulb on that one site. We'll see what comes up. I went looking and I found Philips who manufactures Lumileds that produce over 115 lumens! man...I wana start switching over my truck to these things, but at about $8 a bulb I think i'm going to pass for the moment.

Just to let you know the specs, they put out 80 lumens and draw 1000mA of current.
