all good advise. BTW, technically, i still have a muffler(one of the two small factoryones). the way i envision it, I make my ownY, and purchase no more than8' of 3.5"or 4" pipe and angle it out the side. Thats got too be cheaper than an X or H, plus twosmaller pipes. And less work. I don't really care for duals anyway. Is there any way to run them down each side or do they both run on one side and then split at the back? It looks like there's not enough room under the drivers side, do to the fuel tank. I dont' want anything hanging down too far either. I know that properly run dauls would sound and perform better. But I think it would cost to much to make a better performing daul set up.

Those little mufflers aren't mufflers, they are resonators. So technically, they aren't mufflers.

Well I cut the from 4 inch's after the muffler and sounds great too I think you should done it that way since what rumble you do hear is basically vibrateing through cab mines sounds aggressive too. While you are at it I would put tips pointing downwards to bounce sound off ground instead of straight back into air. BTW its 93 Extended Cab Dakota w/ 318 V8 and I've maxed out at 122 mph on my GPS I have 30's on back and street tires on front lol.

yeah they are just resonators, i know. This is my budget exhaust until I can get what I want. It goes back to stock20 min.

Isn't 3.5" or 4" pipe a bit too large for these trucks? I'm no expert, but I was under the impression that 2.5" (duals) or 3" (single) is plenty large.

I don't know if it works like this, but since the two downpiesare 2" each. One would needa 4" pipe to acheive the same capacity. A single flows better, due to less surface area and, thus, lessair resistance inside the pipe. I think ckoke it back a little w/ a 3.5". But let a majority of the backpressure come from the exhaust components, not the piping.

It really depends on what you are going for. The larger exhaust gives you better high RPM power but you lose low-end torque. I would say that 2.25"-2.5" duels and 3" single would be plenty for this truck if you are using it as a DD. It's always better to have low-end torque when drivingon the streets.

Ya, 3.5"is a bit obnoxious for exhaust. 4" definitly is.

You have to do the overall circumferance too find out what wouldbe the best bet. If I remember right, dual 2.25" has about the same circumferance combined as a 3" single has.

I think.
