Mine has plenty of passing speed on the highway and doesn't need to downshift out of O/D on the highway to gain speed, and I'm a mile above sea level where the air is a lot thinner. I have the 4.7, 5 speed auto, 4x4, and 3.92 gears. Maybe it's because it has atri-diamond emblem on it instead of the ram head emblem.

I would suggest pushing the tow/haul mode button around town--disengaging the O/D.....It won't bogg into O/D like it usually does....It will hold third until 45mph then, if you're not still accelerating, will drop into 4th.....When you deaccelerate to about 30, the tranny will back down into 3rd again. With the O/d off in the tow-haul mode, it's definantly easier to use the RPMs in your favor.

I think they all have tow/haul, because they still are meant to haul, even if they don't have the tow packages. But I might be wrong.
The tow pack can come with any gearing (except maybe the 3.21s). I have the tow pack, but the 3.55 gears (they wouldn't give me the 3.92s and a stick). Getting the lesser gears just knocks 1500 lbs. off the maximum tow capacity.
