Which intake to buy Need advice
I can get both the K&N INTAKE 63-1546 or the Airaid Intake System For 2005-2006 4.7L Dakota *MIT Tube Included for 227 shipped. Which one should I choose?
I believe it's all a decision of personal preference... to be perfectly honest. Read up on them, and choose yourself....
If you buy one, based off of what other people say, and then end up disliking it, why did you buy it? Ya know?
I'd say look into getting all the info from it you can, and make the decision yourself. :-)

Near as I can tell all the intakes are nearly the same-a short piece of tube, a filter & a piece of sheetmetal or plastic to sort of block engine heat from the filter. I bought an aem because you don't have to oil the filter. It was about the same price. they're all overpriced for what you get of course

i just got the K&N filter. here is why
on my ram, my truck was a v6 mag and drew air from the inner fender (not engine heated air) and so i got a K&N filter and noticed a difference in how the engine breathed and the power seemed to have less of a lag and i got increased gas milege. about a year and a half later, i bought a Volant "Cold Air" intake....the setup actually drew air from the stock area (inner fender well) but they used their own cone and tubing (instead of stock) and the cone was inclosed in their lid....turned out, i felt no difference from my stock set up with K&N filter to the "cold air" intake set up and recieve no addition gas milege....

I have the airaid on my 05 4.7L V8. The airaid was the cheapest I found. I like it. It was easy to install and I did notice improved throttle responce. I had aK&N kit on my 2000 Chevy Silverado and the airaid and K&N kits work about the same. Same performance. So if price is an issue go with the airaid. I know K&N kit is more money.
which ever one you choose will be fine. i went with the 63 series and noticed a big difference off the bat. get one with the heat shield, that is a big benefit. also stay away from the chrome ones. though they look nice attract more heat.

I got the K&N for 217 shipped. The guy at premier truck accesories tried to convince me that the Airaid was a better product than the "cheaper quality" K & N. They produce the same performance numbers so cheaper is better, more money to spend on other mods.
i just read soemthing, i never really noticed a MAF (mass air flow) sensor on my truck but didnt think of it, and maybe there is and i jsut dont remember seeing it, but just read that our trucks are speed density which means even if we had ram air, there would be no dif
