Default tires, again

Hey i voted for the BF Goodrich tires but now I have a new question. Don't look down upon me but I wanted to know if we could up the tire size for a little 'lift' and offroad look. keep the 16" wheel but up the tires to, say... 280, 285 instead of the normal 270, 275 size? would that even help or fit?

The normal size is either 245/70 r16 for the ST models, and 265/70 r16 for the other trim models. These are both about the same height tire, the 265 is just wider. I went with 265/75 r16, which is about 2" taller, and almost a 32" tire. About a little less then 1 inch on the sidewall. I will tell you that it looked GOOD. When they first dropped the truck down on the new tires, I was like WOW, this extra 2" balances out the stance much better, and looks great. They didnt rub at all at stock height (now I'm lifted a few inches) You may even be able to get 285/75's on there at stock height, but thats just under a 33" tire, and there pretty huge. I think 265/75 is the lucky number. Its much larger then 265/70 as far as height goes, but go check out the sizes yourself at a tire shop. 265/75 and maybe 285/75. The 285s would definately fit with a front leveling kit.

I'm seriously considering 235 85s, (31.7)but I agree that the 265 75s are probably ideal. I don't want my tires to be wider, though. Unfortuanately, I'm afraid the 235s will be too narrow. I think 285s would fit with the leveling kit, too, but would they look 2 bigstuffed under there? I like a little space between the tire and the wheel arch.

I thought 265/75R16 would NOT fit factory ride height, and that 265/70R16 was the largest tire to fit. I am about to get new tires and would like to max out the size. Which is right?

Ive had 265/75 r16s on my stock 06 dakota for over a year. They fit fine. And I'm near confident larger tires would fit at stock height. But to be safe, the 265/75 r16s fit and clear no problem. the 265/70s are the stock size. 265/75 is taller, and we are all toying with the notion that 285/75s might fit stock, and will definately fit with a leveling kit.
