RE: Exhaust
I am currently running a 3 inch to a flowmaster 50... Honestly I think 3 inches is too much. I am going to pick up some 2.5in and just run it as a straight pipe with a side dump in the stock location. I am going to place a resonator under the cab to keep my interior volume down...
It will be loud, but the resonator should make it managable in the cab...

RE: Exhaust
I lost tourqe according to the g-tech... A good amount... (Like 6tq, and only gained 4hp...)
I got some 2.5 straight pipe from the auto parts store for 30 bucks, I am just going to weld it in from teh cat back and see what happends. My exhaust guy says our exhaust is actuall half way decent from the cat back... Our Y pipe and cat is killing us. I dont have time to make a Y tonight... and I am not sure if I could do it to be honest... I will look at it and see...

RE: Exhaust
ok, so I just got in from a buddys garage... I ended up with a resonator close to the cab, and one a littlefurther down stream. (kinda where the factory reso's were...) It is a better setup than the 3 inch single. I gained 1.6MPH in the 1/4 according to the G-tech, and am Making 192hp... (I am not too sure how this is though, as I think its wrong...)
so if you have a buddy who can weld, and has a place to do so... just pick up some 2.5 inch exhaust tube and replace the muffler back... that is basicly what I ended up doing. (If I were to do it again, I would have got 2.75 tube. it would have been easier to work with...)

RE: Exhaust
I think 2-3/4would be perfect... I like how mine is right now, but if I were to do it again, I would run with 2-3/4...
curtiplas, have you called around to get an idea? most shops around here only charge 200-300 to straight pipe a truck... that includes the cost of cats... (if you can find a place to do it without having a cat its cheaper...)

RE: Exhaust
I think I'm going with a shop...the kits are too expensive...shops around here run just what Eric's saying...$200-300, maybe a bit more if you want a complete dual exhaust, cat back, with stainless. I think that'll run ya closer to $500....a straight pipe should be nice and cheap, though. Plus, with getting the kit and doing it yourself, you need to find someone to weld it all together (if you can't).
Eric...how loud is it in the cab without the muffler? (just the straight pipe and resonators)
