Default Thank god I drive a dodge dakota

Today I went out to wildwood to meet my friend then folow him to another friends house in inverness to pick up a totaled ranger that got hit in the rear passenger side that he was giving us for parts, well we got it loaded after using 3 comalongs and about an hours worth of work. I paid alot of atention making sure the load was even and that there was not too much weight on the front or back of the trailer and opted to add a couple of extra chains and binders to secure it. well we made our way from inverness and back to wildwood and it was pulling good, we stopped right before we got on the turnpike since we had already gone about 20 loaded miles to check the load and chains and straps and they where all fine and the truck would not budge at all, so we got on the trunpike going about 60-65mph (speed limit is 70) went about 5 miles and somebody nicked the back of the trailer and sent it into a fishtail, it got really violent. The trailer came around and hit the driver side of my truck, then went around to the other side and rolled 3/4 the way over then somehow flipped back over onto its wheels, well I looked in my rearview and there was a tanker truck sliding towards me taking up all lanes so I gassed it off the side and he missed me. I dont know how but no other vehicles where involved and everyone was ok, nobody stopped, not the tanker, not the one who bumped me, nobody we just sat there on the side of the road. The trailer was still atatched but the tounge and my hitch where twisted and my hitch was in the trailer so tight I had to take it off the truck to unhook the trailer. The truck handled good, never felt like it was going to flip at all, all I could pay attention to while this was going on was to keep the wheels facing straite and countersteer. It took the cops almost 2 hrs to arive to the spot, my towtruck arived from orlando at the same time, they sent me a big landhaul to pick up the trailer, I drove the truck back. Ill be going to church on sunday.

Ill post up a video of us taking it off the trailer when I can get it uploaded

Damn that sucks. Glad you're ok, it sounds like it could have been a lot worse.

I can't believe the ******* who hit you didn't stop...

ok, here is the video of me unloading the ranger with my cat 966, should have used the 245 trackhoe in the background lol (yes, I have 13yrs heavy equipment and 4 yrs truck driving experience) My buddy josh is the one running around and this favor of picking this thing up from inverness was for him.

Unloading it looks like fun, I almost got a chance to drive one of those tractors a year or so before high school when my dad rented one but he decided I was too young...

the fact that no one stopped is bull. what had happened if you took out the tanker. would have been like a bomb going off. some one has the plate number of the other vechicle. they have too. just wait and see if anything comes up. also like the other post i hate orlando. check around different body shops for damaged vechicles. or at least did you get a glimpse of the other vechicle?

ya it does, Im happy it didnt flip me. I dodnt know anything is wrong with it or not but I also think I am going to replace my recever hitch, just because it took one heck of a twisting load in that crash and this is the second crash with a trailer.
