dissed by an Escalade
At a red light today, blown off the line by a new Escalade. I did have 4 people and tools in my truck - he had one passenger, but still. It sucked. My Dak sounded good though! And to me the Dak felt strong. But w/e. I looked it up and that thing has a 6.2L 403hp motor. So I guess I shouldn't feel bad.

RE: dissed by an Escalade
I made peace with the fact that our trucks are slow a long time ago. My other car, an '06 Honda Odyssey minivan, will smoke my Dakota - and gets much better fuel economy besides.
The Escalade has 403hp, but weighs almost 5700 lbs. It's not exactly a rocket either, 0-60 in 7.5 seconds. Motor Trend only managed 0-60 in 9.7 seconds with a 4.7 non-HO Dakota. Frankly, there aren't too many slower new vehicles available. The 30 extra hp offered by the H.O. may knock a few tenths off, but it's stilla very slow truck. Prior to my Dakota, I had a 2005 Tacoma double cab, long bed 4X4 automatic. Despite having a smaller engine than the Dakota and less hp, it was much quicker. Prior to that I had a 2000 Ford Lightning. Bone stock, I ran a 14.00@100mph. With only a chip and CAI (less than $500), I ran a 13.110@106mph. I'm not sure why Dakotas are so slow, but I find it best not to engage in any sort of contest involving acceleration. You'll get beat by about 90% of other vehicles.
