Loading up the Dakota, Fun!!
I know I might be a little over the limit, but, today I hauled about 2,000 pounds worth of patio brick and such, and sand. It was a little low, but she pulled great, I dont care what people say about the 3.7, it is awesome! I will post some pics when I have the time to resize them.[:@]
the most i towed was 3 tons of wood pellets and the trailer. getting up and going was fine and once it got going it was better. and i left some extra braking room. this is with the 4.7. and it did better than my fullsize with the 5.2
Ive towed plenty of times with my 4.7 Dakota... it tows great... good power and good braking.
I towed a car on a trailer in the mountains here (alaska) and got like 13mpg while doing it.
My only complaint is it SQUATS like crazy.... I'm getting air bags for the rear..

I meant that I had one ton in the back of the truck, not towing. The dodge website said it has a payload capacity of 1710 lbs, so I was around that
I pulled a 93 Jeep GC that has a weight around 6000 on a tow dolly, and, that was with out a reciever hitch, just bumper lol. Pulled it for 150 miles through some mountains and she did excellent, I like the 3.7 but honesty I think dodge should drop it and replace it with the 3.8 or the 4.0, the 3.8 gets awesome gas mileage, I have it in my 2006 t&c and I average around 19-22 around town.

I've only had about a 1000 lbs. in the bed so far...it was just generator cable we were switching out....hauled like a champ!
I've probably towed 5000-5500 lbs. (including trailer) and it did that pretty well too. It did drop a bit in the back when I didn't use the equalizer bars. The wind resistance of the enclosed cargo trailer proved to be the biggest problem with acceleration, as that didn't change much whether the trailer was loaded or unloaded. I usually get about 11-12 mpg with that trailer on.

Towing that jeep from Lima, Ohio to Columbus, Ohio we got about 14 highway in tow/haul mode, pulled like a champ!! Took about a 1/4 tank each way...
