08 Dak's
I still think that is kinda dumb, dont you think the 3.7 is due for a bump, or even replacement? I have the 3.7 and think it is a pretty good motor but really sucks the gas (as we all know) almost as bad as the 4.7, I think they should use the 4 wheel drive jeep 3.8. I have that in my 06 T&C and average around 20 around town, and still have about the same hp ratings as the 3.7... Or go back to the I-6
The jeep 3.8 (modded 3.7) and the van 3.8 (modded 3.3)are very different motors, same what I think is the difference between the 3.7 (4.7 - 2 cyl)and 4.0 (modded 3.5 from the LH/LX cars)on the Nitro. I can't say why they don't use the jeep 3.8, maybe it's either expensive or it's not worth developing for the truck or they're waiting for the supposed new V6 coming with the new Ram. Chrysler is always strange with their engines, keeping alive very similiar motors forever.

Sorry, but that wrangler 3.8 looks exactly the same as my 06 t&c 3.8, same layout and everything, and they have about the same specs, I am pretty sure they are just both modded 3.3.
Sorry Jr, you are correct... my bad.
It actually seems that they are all the same family (3.5/4.0 Al block, 3.3/3.8 cast iron block). Why then theunimpressive 3.7 (last to be made, entirely different)?
Once of these days they'll get it together and stop maklng so many different ways to get the same megar power!

they should start putting real engines back into dakotas, like the 360 and the 318. at least the 08's arent quite as ugly.

The 3.7 is just the current 4.7 minus two cylinders...it has no relation to any other Chrysler/Dodge V6.

Yeah, thats fine. what m18 said hit it pretty dead on, the 3.7 is in no relation to the other chrysler v-6's just the 4.7- 2 cylinders

They do have a Gen III R/T. Not much more than some appearance items...no real performance/engine changes from a regular Dak. They should drop the Hemi in there...6.1 Hemi would be even better....would make it a real R/T.
