The funny thing is they said that the price is suppose to drop below the $3.00 mark nation wide my Memorial Day. Here we are getting closer to Memorial Day, and they're still going up. As of yesterday, we've been sitting at the same price since last week.
It's just greed, plain and simple. I wish I could boycott Exxon-Mobil but my parents gave me a gas card for them and told me they'd pay for part of my gas. Can't afford to pass that up. I am working on them to dump Exxon Mobil and use someone else for the company gas cards, it's just hard since they're the ones at all the turnpike rest stops.

Ugh, gas is going up 14 cents a gallon here today. :-(
So, it'll be 3.59 for regular.

Wow. Our's rose a few cents late last week. Up to the range of $2.95 to $2.99. I found a $2.93 yesterday and topped off. I couldn't imagine $3.59....highest we've ever...ever...seen is $3.19 last summer.

All gas is the same.Unless you're in an area with a large concentration of refineries, the gas is just pumped into one large storage facility serving a large geographical area. Each company sends trucks there, and the trucks take the gas to your station, where additives are added that make the blend a little different for each brand (ie, Sunoco uses a different additive than Shell or Exxon/Mobil). Those additives are the one and only difference. Otherwise, gas is gas.
Exxon/Mobil just uses a crappy additive. I posted this earlier in the Off Topic, but a friend of mine's dad owns a small oil company near Philly....he was my source for the "gas is gas" statement, and he backs it up by using any gas, but Exxon Mobil...he says their additives are awful and won't put it in anything he owns.

Why are you dumping on Exxon Mobil. All gas prices brand are basicly the same. You are mad at the wrong people. The free market sets the price just like everything else.

Then don't buy it. Sears is more expensive than Wal-Mart so I shop at Wal-mart, but I'm not mad at Sears. Here Exxon is usualy the same or within 2 cents of the Cevron nexted door. No need to hate Exxon, it's a free makert and they can charge what they want and you can buy it or not.
It's one thing to be a free market, it's another to be gouging and claiming that it's because of a shortage. As of right now, the price of oil is only $64.78 per barrel. Last year when the prices were up, oil was $72.00 per barrel. To me, that's gouging and they're lying at the same time. I know that CNN announced this morning that Maria Cantwell (WA Senator) is trying to get a bill passed to have the oil companies investigated and she said that this falls into the same category as Enron for gouging electricity prices.
