Trailmaster leveling kit, and 1" blocks (now with pics)
The past few months I have been messing around with the small home made lift kit that consisted of the TM leveling kit and 2" blocks. After riding around for over a month with the TM and 2" blocks, I no longer recommend the setup.
Since the TML kit only lifts 1.5" in the front, the 2" blocks created an even larger then stock rake, which results in funny handling, and makes the viewing angle for tall guys like me, tough. (Harder to see the traffic lights above you because of the nose dive).
And to add to the list, the 2" blocks with stock shocks did work out without damaging the shocks, but they topped out all the time, so the ride was jarring, and much more rough.
The solution?
The TM leveling kit and 1" blocks. This combo gives you your lift of 1.5", and makes the rake less apparent with a .5" reduction (21.5" axle to top of well clearance in front, and 23" rear as oppose to the stock: 20"/22")
The view angle is much better driving, handling is near stock, and most important the ride is as smooth as the truck was front the factory. (at least thats how I feel)
So, this small $120 lift is good for a little less in the rear then I thought, but it actually helps make the truck better without the 2.5" rake the 2" blocks created.
In short I'm going to fully reccomend the TM leveling kit with 1" rear blocks. You could most likely squeeze 285/75s with this setup and the ride would be high and near level.
If I get a chance Ill post a pic.
