Interested in speaker install DIY?
Hey guys, I'm currently changing out my front speakers for some polk 6 1/2"s. You guys think I should write up a DIY of it for those who might be a little unsure or haven't done this before? (Our trucks require you to make some brackets due to the factory speaker design) Anyways after I eat supper I'll bring a camera out with me and take some pictures, if you guys think it's worth it I'll write up a DIY later and maybe another one for the rears when I get around for it.
you dont need special brakets for the frt. they make them i got my braket from long radio in ct. dont listen to who ever said make them. the truck speakers are a true 6.5 but the housing is a little bigger in size. i changed out mine long ago and went through the same crap untill i found the correct brakets. best buy should carry them now or even tweeter. i dont know what you have for stereo stores out your way but they do make frt brakets.

Ah well, time to go back out and finish the job, then later this week I'll have to go pick up a socket that fits the bolt on the rear seatbelts (stupid star-drive [:@])
Eric, I can edit your tint thread if you need me too...

Well they're in, got a bunch of pics but I'm too tired and lazy to upload them and do something now so I'll put it together tomorrow. Gotta say if you have a chance to pick up some Polk db650's cheap definitely do it, they sound amazing.

The DB's are nice, but they like to blow with RMS power... I had a set in my jeep and my alpine amp toasted them 2 or 3 times...
ALT if you get a 7/32 allen wrench, it will work on teh rear seats... I know I do it all teh time.

Ah sweet, thanks for the advice. I think we have one of those too so I'll have to give it a try. As far as the RMS that's good to know but I'm not worried, these aren't going to see an amp. I'm not upgrading the factory head unit till next summer so they're just running off that, if I want more when I upgrade I'll throw in some MOMO's or maybe shop around and get something else. I love how they sound just running off the factory head though, real crisp and clear.
