Default Question

exhaust set up ?

we have 2 resistors and 1 muffler...is

A-1 resistor
B-muffler
C-the other resistor

?????

just wondering, ready to order my borla muffler, just wondering if that is what they are....never thought the resistor was so big, never got under the car and so i always thought (if A is a resistor) that A was my muffler....till i just got under for measurements....

also, i dont want it TOO loud but i want it be be noticed....with the borla muffler, should i leave 1 resistor on? and if so, does it matter which one? i would rather keep the front one bc i decided i am going to go with a stainless pipe and dont want to ruin the looks with that rear resistor

Default RE: Question

you are correct. i cut everything off before my 3 inch went on. its not to loud in the cab and sounds nice when leaving any kind of stop. if you want to leave the first one on its ok. it wont hurt performance or the noise. leaving the back one on would kill the noise.

Yeah A and C are both resonators, B is the muffler. Removing both and putting on your Borla should sound real good. Just had mine done today, removed everything behind the y-pipe and put on a vortex muffler SI/SO. It's pretty quiet at idle or cruising at low rpm's but you definitely know it's there when you get on it. I almost think it will be too quiet if you leave a resonator on.

your muffler had a 3" i/o? our pipes are 2.5"....my tip pictured at the very bottom of this post is a 2.5" inlet with 3.5" duel outlets...i was gunna stick with 2.5" pipes, why did you move up to 3"?..in pics posted before, many of you thought it looked huge, here is a pic of it next to a 4x6 of me and the woman...but why wont the resonator before the muffler have any effect?

i was afraid taking both resonators off would be too loud, on my v6 ram i just had the muffler and "duel" pipes that were really just a Y pipe...si/so muffler....that was actually very loud, i had flows on it...right now, i just want a nice tone, not too quiet, not too loud...i also wanted a distinct sound that you dont hear every day, i decided on corsa or borla.....i cant have both so i chose corsa tips and a borla muffler

Did you buy the muffler yourself and have a local shop fab up the pipes? If so, how much did they charge you? I think of either a Dynaflow or a Magnaflow and finding a local shop to fab up the pipes...

I ran mine with a S/I D/O Flowmaster 40 series Delta Flow from the cat back and I went back 2 days later to have the resonator removed, because I was not happy with the sound. I also ran D/O Magnaflow tips which were $140.00/pair. Total project cost for muffler, tips, pipes, and install was $450.00. I love the new sound and it idles great.
REMOVE THE RESONATOR. JMO.

the local shop said they could fab up the pipes and weld my tips and muffler on for an estimated 150 but that was with polished alum pipes....i want stainless, they will last longer, look better, and the up keep is better....still lookin around...i had flows on my last truck, it sounded great, but it sounded like EVERY other truck on the road....no offense, sounds great, but i wanted something very distinct...wonder how much more it would be for stainless...lookin for a shop with them right now

I would say flat out take off both and have the shop fab up custom piping. I had a local shop (First Choice Muffler) fab up my piping, remov the factory muffler, resonators, and put on a Vortex muffler with my Hooker Headers dual tip exiting just before the rear passenger wheel. Cost me $115 with the shop's muffler (normally $100 apiece) and my tip, plus the muffler is guaranteed for life!
