I put in Amsoil 10w-30 last April in both my vehicles along with the Ea oil filter.

Some folks may jump and down about this, but I follow the recommended drain intervals from Amsoil. For normal use, it is 1 year or 35, 000 miles provided you use their oil and their filters (which I do).
Did theoil analysis at the end of the year and everything came back fine so Isee no need to change my habits....

I use Amsoil oil and filters and change the oil & oil filter once a year. I have been doing it this way since 1985.
In regards to Mobil 1 they use to use Group 4 oils (PAO synthetic), but now Mobil 1 is actually using Group 3 petroleum oil, with some PAO blended in. Mobil 1 is a great oil, but I wouldn't run longer than 10,000 miles or 6 months. Mobil 1 does make some specilized racing oils that are 100% syn, but the price will be much higher. They make some for Motorcycles and the cost is over $12.00 a quart.

Are you sure that the mobil 1 Extended Performance is group 3? Maybe Mobil 1, but the EP last I checked was group 4. Either way, whether its group 3 or 4, I change it 15k.
I could get even more technical in why Mobil says "go ahead change it every 15k guarenteed" but as long as its warranteed why would I bother?

Spend $20 on the membership and you get the discounted price, you make back the $20 if you buy about $100 worth of stuff, and with two vehicles, I blow $100 easy....
The Mobil 1 Extended I don't know what percentage of Group 4 or Group 3 oils they use, but I am pretty sure it isn't 100% Group 4. All true syn oils being sold cost over $6.00 a quart, and there are only a few. Amsoil, Redline, Royal Purple and a couple more are all made using Group 4 or Group 5 syn oils. Back in the mid 90's Castrol came out with their SynTech oil using Group 3 petroleum oil as the main component. Mobil filed a law suit against Castrol and lost. The Judge in the law suit ruled that synthetic oil was just a marketing tool and that any type of oil can be used as a synthetic. In less than 2 years Mobil 1 reformulated using Group 3 oils (it was at this time Mobil stopped claiming 25,000 miles). Today all major oil companys selling a syn oil are using Group 3 petroleum oils as the main component in their syn oils. They are doing this so they can compete with each other. Again Mobil 1, Valvoline Syn, Castrol Syn, Rotella Syn are all great oils when compared to none syn oil using Group 2 and Group 3 blended oils.
I changed my oil last year to Royal Purple and I use K&N oil filter. Royal Purple is good for 12K, but it's a bit expensive. Depending on where you go, you'll pay anywhere from $7.00-$10.00 a quart. It's rated as the best sytec out there. You'll feel a difference in power too.

I have been using Mobil 1 for 20 years with no internal failures. When I first tried it, you copuld actually see the improvement in fuel mileage but my recent evaluations have shown no change. That would make me think it is not really synthetic. I would not be at all surprised it is actually petro oil now so they can make bigger profits off of deceptive advertizing.
