hauling drywall

Default hauling drywall

How canI haul 4x8 sheets of drywall or plywood in the bed of my Dakota Quad Cab? Not enough room on the bed floor.

my drawing explains it all...disreguard my tonneau

brown = sheet of plywood
white = sheets of drywall
blue = tie downs

you might want to put a blanket between the wood/drywall and your bed and bed walls...just an idea

All you need to do it cut two lengths of 2x4 to fit in the flat spots on your bed sides. Put the 2x4s across the bed and stack the drywall on top of them. Ratchet-strap the drywall sheets down front and rear. Obviously you'll need to leave the tailgate open.

lol im at work. if i was at home i would have used cs2 (photoshop) and it may have been better...im no pro, but i was gettin better for a while...havent really worked at it since i made the pics below

our bed isnt 4 feet wide from the inside of the wheel wells inside the truck, is it? thats why i had my diagram the way it is....your angle probally wont be as steep, and it may not even go over the rails like in my picture, but thats the concept that will have to be done

Our beds are more than 4 feet wide above the wheelwells. That's why the 2x4s are needed.

Honestly anything that raises it up above the wheel wells will work, a standard twin mattress is about the same height as the wells and fits inbetween them. Probably don't want to use your bed to put drywall on though
