Default give me some tips please

i have a 05 dak slt quad v8 and just have a replacement k&n filter with a 50 series flowmaster on stock exhaust.I really like the sound because it is just a low rumble while cruising and gets alittle louder under accel. my question is this: Is What all can i do to gain better fuel millage? i get around 22 traveling interstate to work and around 18-19 in hills and city. You guys know alot more about autos than i do so I was just wanting some tips. Thanks and i will try to post some pics of my dak soon. I love the truck and hope to drive it for along time!

If you get 22 highway you're already doing better than a lot of us, check out the 4.7 mileage thread

Well after adding my "power wire" I gained a butt load of mpg's on the highway, but lost a few in town...

However, driving 50mph through town in 3rd gear hasn't really helped... and I've noticed a big difference from just that little small wire....

Anyways, back to the question.... what motor you got? 4.7L.. 3.7L ...2wd.... 4wd...AWD...

I added a true dual flowmaster 50 system, K&N intake, electric fan, I'm running all synthetic oils, and the "power wire" and last time I checked, I got 23.3mpg(I think) on a 4wd 4.7L truck, with heavy wheels..... 75 pounds per corner.... if I only had my stock wheels, I think I'd be further impressed... probably more like 24 - 25mpg...

the one thing i noticed is tire pressure. the door jam says 35 psi and the tire says max is 44 psi. so i went in between at 40. created less rolling resistance and a few mpg.

I always follow what the Tire Manufacturer says vs. what the Vehicle Maufacturer says; they made the car, not the tire...
I have a Honda Valkyrie and lots of folks were having trouble with the OEM Dunlop tires delaminating... Honda said psi should be about 35, whereas Dunlop said 40 psi for best tire as too low a pressure increases the heat generated by the tire...

Honda was just interested in maintaining 'ride quality'..
