Default Electric Fan Setup

Ok well I bought an electric fan for 60 bux on Ebay, mainy due to the fact that I would have to drive 45 min to get to the closest junkyard to find one. My question is: I want to set it up so that I will have it turn to the low setting when the key is switched on and jump into HIGH when I turn on the A/C and also have it set up that if the temp gets to 210*F that it kicks on the HIGH regardless of AC being on.. I have this picture with thermostaic switches, but I am not a electrical guru..I definatly need help. http://www.dodge talk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=162339 (scroll down)

Is this too complicated of a setup with the thermo switch...if so would it be alright to just set it up as a low on always/High A/C? What is normal operating temp of out trux. Thanks

OK, apparently you can't link to a 'competing' site [sm=lame.gif]

Copy and paste the link above, but take out the space betwen dodge and talk... it should work

Here is a copy of the schematic...

Frenchy, could I still tie in the A/C into the High so that I dont have to worry about flipping it on and off. I also read that at cruising it adds unnecessary load on the alternator running it at low all the time

Default RE: Electric Fan Setup

Heres the deal with an electric fan. It is supposed to only run when needed not run all the time. In the morning when I drive to work my fan may run maybe once or twice for about a minute or 2 depending on how many red lights I have to stop at. Then when I get to work and turn the key off the fan runs for about 30 seconds or so to cool things down. When the a/c is on it runs with the a/c and cycles on and off with the a/c clutch. Now I don't have a variable speed controler on my fan anymore. When the fan comes on its at 100% which cools things down really good. Now in the winter time my fan probably will not run at all because the air will be cold enough outside to keep the engine cool enough. You can wire yours like frenchy did if thats what you want but like I said the purpose of an electric fan is it runs only when needed. Look at most all front wheel drive cars they all have electric fans from the factory and they don't run until the engine heats up.
