RE: how much weight?
I have a club cab 4X4 3.7 V6 with "heavy duty" suspention. I have carried at least 1400# of bricks home no problem. I haul a camper of aprox 1400 punds. On uneven roads at speed it bottoms out. I just put on some Firestone Sport ride helper air springs last night. They are rated to up to 3000 pounds. I put in the minimum 10 pounds pressure and drove it into work this morning. Seemed a little stiffer in the back. I hope to use the camper again this weekend (if it does not rain in the mountains.) I got them from Truckspring.com for $201. JC Whitney is a little cheaper. They go on not too badly. The instructions are contradictory. First they say they go on infront of the axle then say to mount them rear of the axle. The illustration shows the "drivers side" but the arrow pointing to the rear is in the wrong direction. Called Firestone tech support and got it straightened out. I had to drill eight holes through both sides of the frame. I was prepaired for an all nighter drilling but the frame rails are so thin it did not take long at all and that was with a 14.4V Dewalt battery drill. I'm always amazed at how flimsy these trucks are. See my other post about crushing my tail gate.

RE: how much weight?
I had 1850lbs of gravel and hit the stops. I was sweating bullets but only had to drive 15 miles on city streets w/ max speed limit of 35 so I did it but only cause unloading was not an option. I asked for half yard of rock and they put the full yard in. I was pretty pissed.
I too was way more worried about blowing a tire than anything else.
