The factory ones will work just fine! had the Ram Air hood for my 96 dakota and the stock ones work just fine!

why wouldnt the "springs" work if the hood is LIGHTER not heavier?

Well if the hood was much lighter and cheaply constructed the springs might have enough force to warp it.

no they wont warp the hood...i now that for a fact...i'm gonna hav to get pictures of my buddies 3rd Gen...his has the Ram Air Hood on his and he used al the stock applications and just mounted the hood and it looks good and it works like it was the stock hood that was on it! so yeah no worries aobut the springs that come stock on the truck!

umm by springs are we talking the gas shocks that lift the hood? I dont remember seeing any springs under there...
Lol, I couldn't remember for sure and I've been too lazy to pop the hood and check
